Georgetown, Guyana - Shellimiah Mendonca captured three wickets for one run including a hat-trick as Institute of Professional Education (IPE) overcame Tucville by 31 runs when the Ministry of Culture Youth & Sport/National Sports Commission/AL Sport & Tour Promotions 22nd Annual Easter Term (Melissa King Memorial) Secondary Schools Female Windball Championship continued at the National Park Tarmac last weekend.

After been invited to take first strike, IPE managed 65-7 with Alicia Somrah scoring 23 and Rhonda Samaroo 21. Bowling for Tucville Secondary Alia Goodluck picked up 4 wkts.

Tucville were restricted to 34-4 in reply. Jonel Phillips (10) was the only batter to reach double figures.

Friendship Secondary went down to last year’s runner up Covent Garden by 10 wickets. Friendship Secondary scored 45-2 after taking first strike. Lashanna Phillips made 19 not out.

Covent Garden Secondary responded with 48-0 off 2.5 overs. Marcia Singh stroked 22 (4×4, 1×6) and Kaysia Schultz 11 (2×4).

Friendship rebounded to beat IPE by 15 runs. Friendship batted first after winning the toss and rattled up 53-4. Tunkiha Guhit top scored with 22 and Maniare Coaster made 15.

IPE could only muster 38-4 in reply. Alisa Samroo made 12; Melisa Singh claimed 2-1 and Michelle Matters 2-4.

Covent Garden got the better of North Georgetown Secondary 10 wickets. North Georgetown took first strike and made 46-3 with Marisa Hunte scoring 18 and Ashaye Sandy 10. Marcia Singh picked up 2-13 and Kaysia Schultz 1-11.

Covent Garden reached their target off 3 overs ending on 47-0. K Schultz slammed 21 (5×4) and M. Singh 19 (4×4).

The competition continues this weekend with Dolphin Secondary facing Tucville, Queenstown battling Electra’s Institute, North Georgetown playing Dolphin, IPE matching skills with Queenstown and Dolphin coming up against Electra’s.
