GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – Jamaica and Barbados both posted their second wins on the trot while Trinidad and Tobago rebounded from an opening round defeat, to also find the winning touch in the second round of the Twenty20 phase of the Regional Women’s Championship here Friday.

In matches played at the Guyana National Stadium, Jamaica brushed aside Leeward Islands by eight wickets, Barbados easily knocked over hosts Guyana by 49 runs while T&T clobbered Windward Islands by 73 runs.

Barbados now top Zone A with six points with T&T and Guyana each on three points. Jamaica, meanwhile, are out front in Zone B on six points with the Windwards and the Leewards yet to register a point.

West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor was once again among the runs, blasting an 18-ball, unbeaten 35 as Jamaica easily overhauled their target of 62 in the sixth over.

The right-hander struck seven fours and put on 51 for the first wicket with Jodian Morgan (19), a partnership which laid the foundation for the uncomplicated victory.

Earlier, Leewards had been restricted to 61 for nine thanks to a brilliant spell from left-armer Shanel Daley who finished with five for 11.

Barbados, meanwhile, were fired by an unbeaten 56 from captain Shaquana Quintyne as they reached 140 for six off their 20 overs, after they opted to bat first.

Quintyne struck two fours and two sixes in a 43-ball knock, adding 35 with Aaliyah Alleyne (12) for the sixth wicket and a further 45 in an unbroken seventh wicket stand with Shamilia Connell who finished 19 not out.

Pacer Erva Giddings picked up two for 34.

In reply, Guyana were limited to 91 for five off their 20 overs, despite the in-form West Indies batsman Shemaine Campbelle’s 43 not out off 40 deliveries.

She stroked four fours and six but was without support, as none of her colleagues managed to reach 15.

T&T, who lost to Barbados on Thursday, came good this time around through half-centuries from West Indies players Britney Cooper who scored 51 and Merissa Aguilleira who stroked 50 not out.

Cooper struck six fours off 49 balls and Aguilleira, three fours and a six off 36 deliveries, as they lifted T&T out of trouble at 24 for three and steered them to 139 for four off their 20 overs.

Left-armer Akeira Peters was excellent, capturing three for 26 off her four overs.

In reply, the Windwards were never up for the fight and slumped to 66 all out with nine balls remaining, with pacer Shenelle Lord (2-2) and slow medium Karishma Ramharack (2-16) taking two wickets apiece.
