Georgetown, Guyana - With the aim of fulfilling its corporate and social responsibilities, Odyssey Transport and Jet Boat Services last weekend made a donation of cricket equipment towards the Akawini village cricket team in the Pomeroon area.

The presentation of gear was made at the company’s boat port, located at the lookout at Parika, East Bank Essequibo. The company’s representatives handed over two cricket bats, three pairs of batting gloves, two pairs of batting pads, one pair of wicketkeeping pads, one pair of keeping gloves and bat rubbers.

According to Odyssey Transport official Troy Khan, Chief Executive Officer Feroze Barakat said he was very much happy to make the donation to the Akawini village. He added that he was hopeful his contribution can aid the development of the sport in the village.

The village is set to host a one-week cricket tournament for teams in Pomeroon and Akawini shortly.
