ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board today announced that it is now accepting hand drawn designs for its recently announced kit design competition.

On August 1st last, the WICB announced that professional and amateur designers across the Caribbean are being given the historic opportunity to design the West Indies team One Day International and Twenty20 playing kit.

The WICB has agreed to accept hand drawn designs owing to overwhelming requests from interested amateur and professional designers.

“While we still prefer to receive electronic designs, we have received feedback and requests from numerous designers who have indicated that they are not able to produce electronic designs themselves due to a number of constraints and they are being asked to pay prohibitive sums to have these done for the purposes of submitting entries to the competition,” WICB Marketing and Communications Manager Imran Khan explained.

“We want to ensure the broadest possible participation so we are sympathetic to these requests and are happy to adjust the submission requirements to accommodate as many designers as possible,” Khan said.

Designers who are able to provide their designs in electronic format are encouraged to do so. Designers who are not able to produce electronic designs can have their hand drawn designs scanned and submitted via email as a PDF document.

The competition is open to all designers of all ages who are citizens of or resident in any WICB jurisdiction. The deadline for submission is August 29 and full details on how to enter and the terms and conditions for the competition are available at www.windiescricket.com/kitdesign

The deadline for submission is August 29th.

The winner in each of the three categories will receive HP tablets and desktop computers along with all expenses paid trips to a West Indies international match in the Caribbean among other prizes.

The WICB is seeking three designs:

1.    West Indies Men’s Twenty20 Team

2.    West Indies Men’s One Day International Team

3.    West Indies Women’s Team

Designers can submit in any one of the categories or all if they are so desirous.

The WICB will appoint a diverse judging panel to select the winning designs. The panel will include players and prominent personalities in the Caribbean fashion and entertainment industries. The judging panel will be revealed at a later date.
